Durango Street
Published in Library Binding by Bt Bound (October, 1999)
Author: Frank Bonham

Durango Street
Have you ever been so scared of where you lived? Well that is how Rufus Henry and his family felt. Durango Street sounded like a realistic fiction book. It is a story about a teenager named Rufus Henry who spent time in work camp for grand theft auto. His troubles begin when he is released. All he wants to do is keep a steady job and obey the laws. He finds the difficult because of all the crime and gang activity going on around his neighborhood.

If I had to rate this book from 1 to 10 I would probably give it a 9 because I really enjoyed reading this book, and I liked these characters. This book is probably for a 14 year-old boy or girl. You would have to like a serious type of book, because the book has a really good plot. The book kept my interest although there were some parts that were sloe and boring, because the author was to non-specific with the characters. Durango Street was not hard to concentrate because the story could really happen to kids our ages. I did not really connect to the characters because they did not match me that good, but I liked them. I really enjoyed reading this book because I enjoy reading these types of books.

Durango Street by Andrew
Durango Street is a teen novel that a lot of kids should read because it teaches you what not to do during your teen years. Frank Bonham wrote a novel about Rufus Hennry. Rufus was a teen that was brought to a work camp for grand theft auto and when he gets out, his parole officer tells him that he can't join any gangs or else he will have to go back to work camp, but he does.
Rufus attitude changed based on who he is with; this sometimes causes him to make unwise and thoughtless choices, such as rejoining a gang. There are many examples of unwise decisions Rufus makes, such as joining gangs and hurting people. Both of those decisions affect his parole officer and his family. He also steals from stores and lies too much. These actions affect his parole officer and his family.
I liked Durango Street because there was a lot of fighting and adventure. It also left you thinking about what was going to happen in the next chapter. I think most teens would like this book because of all the adventure that happens. I recommend this book to most teens. It's a great book and I really liked it.

GREAT BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Durango Street is a story about about a boy named Rufus facing gang and life struggles. Rufus Henry is a boy with a lot of potential, but he has gotten himself into the wrong place with the wrong people. The book starts out with Rufus in work camp after being charged with grand theft auto. But when he is released from camp, there is only one place for him to go, back to Durango Street. Immediately after Rufus arrives at his home he runs into trouble with the gang called the Gassers. Before long the Gassers are after him and Rufus finds he has no chioce but to join the gang the Moors. With the Moors behind him, Rufus is staying alive and safe for a while. But when the Gassers catch up with the Moors, trouble and "war" breaks out. Rufus learns that this lifestyle is not the way to live his life, and does his best to end the "war". He faces many life and death situations, but he always seems to come out clean. Rufus learned a lot from this experience and eventually understands that his life is not a dead end, but a life with a great future. THIS BOOK is AWESOME!

Brides of Durango: Jenny (Brides of Durango)
Published in Mass Market Paperback by Leisure Books (October, 2000)
Author: Bobbi Smith
Average review score:

sexy, lovely
Courtesy of A Romance Review

Jenny, the third book in the Brides of Durango series, is another page turner of storyteller Bobbi Smith. The plot is smooth and packed with sexy cowboys, lovely ladies and magnificent scenery. Ms. Smith has created two courageous and daring women (Jenny and Rose) who know and go after what they want. Not only Jenny who gains Cole back but also Rose who finds her true love with a happy-ever-after ending to the story. Fans of Wild West romance must not miss the other two earlier books in the series - Elise and Tessa which feature the other two brides of Durango.

Excellent escape reading
I love series books. This is the 3rd in this series and I can't wait for the next one. Jenny and Cole were great leading characters and I enjoyed the story line. Not many women were as daring as Jenny and her friends were back in the late 1800's so I thought Bobbi Smith showed spunk by including those things in the characters. The only thing missing was the interaction of these characters with the characters from the previous books about Durango. I would like to see more of those characters in the next series so we can keep up with their story lines too.

YOU JUST KEEP GETTING BETTER AND BETTER!!!
Ms. Smith, I tip my hat to you! No one can write a western better than you. This third in your series of Brides Of Darango is my favorite. Please tell me you are going to do more!!!

Durango
Published in Hardcover by National Book Network (August, 1995)
Author: John B. Keane
Average review score:

hilarious and charming story
Reading this wonderful book made me feel like I was sitting in some public house in Ireland, listening to an old master storyteller spin a yarn about memorable characters in situations both dire and ridiculous; and it reminded me of the value of the often-neglected art of genuine storytelling. I felt as if I had come to know the characters as real people, and I judged myself the better for having made their acquaintance. And did I meantion that the book is hilarious? The unforgettable attack of the little people is not to be missed!

A tale from the REAL wild west!
That's the wild west of Ireland. There are so many things to tell about this book where do you start. The memorable scene where a clapped out bull fit only for the meatyard rouses himself to perform his swansong and in the process commands a bulls price at the fair, the naked leprechauns, the immoral ladies on their last fling with the fine young men. Keane is at his best when he is being irreverent, and this has to be his most irreverent book of all. Totally shocking and in the best tradition of Irish rural literature -every word of it is true!

So much more than a Hallmark moment!
This is a bonafide cattledrive novel. The fact that it takes place in Ireland of the 40's doesn't make it less exciting. There's bad guys and good guys and sweet colleens (not to mention some hootchycootchy kind of gals!) The forces of nature play a major part (both good and bad) in life on the trail. You get a true feeling for Irish country life and love and honor and pride. The characters are worth a story each, from a lascivious old widow to a gun toting Minister (yes, not everyone is Catholic)! Hallmark made a sickly sweet TV movie out of this wonderful novel, cutting out the murder and most of the mayhem. (NOW are you interested?)

review of the repair manual for 1997-1999 dakotas
The book was perfect for me. It explains mainly how to serveice your vehicle, and that was what I was looking for. If you are wanting to get into details of the 97-99 Dodge Dakotas, you may want to get the Chrysler book instead

Great manual
Don't go to the shop without this manual.

I love series...
I love series books. This book continues with some of the same characters from "Elise" that started this series.

This book was a great escape, easy reading and very entertaining. The characters are believable and seem real. It had great adventure and a fabulous amount of romantic tension. If you like Bobbie Smith and need a break from reality, go for it.

The Fourth Durango

Suspense of the First Order
Another pearl of the Ross Thomas oeuvre, two protagonists wish to seek refuge in Durango, a town that makes its income with a very curious illegal enterprise. Again Thomas used his knowledge of political chicanery to imbue his characters (a disbarred lawyer, a crooked chief of police, a convicted state judge) with real life hubris. Lots of fun from the late Grand Master.

Perdita Durango
I did not like this book the first time I read it. It was the first Barry Gifford book that I read and it did not make much sense to me. The next time I read it, I had just finished Wild At heart, and it made so much more sense and was a much better read. Perdita first appears in Wild at Heart, and reappears better drawn in this account of her misadventures in love.

Brides of Durango: Elise
Published in Mass Market Paperback by Leisure Books (September, 1999)
Author: Bobbi Smith
Average review score:

Good
This is the first time I've read a Bobbi Smith book and I liked it. Elise's story was good but it didn't get real exciting until the end of the book, I wanted to turn the pages. It was a good story and I liked the characters. I would recommend it as a good read and I will read the other "Brides" stories.

Well Written but not particularly exciting
This book is well written but the plot leaves a lot to be desired. It's a sweet story with little excitement.

Elise Martin is a reporter who will almost anything to get a story. Planning to be married when the stage arrives Elise dressed in a wedding dress awaits her "fiancee". When he doesn't show she picks a man who arrives on the stage and offers him $10 to "marry" her, which he does; however, there is more to this "wedding" than meets the eye.

The stranger turns out to be Sheriff Trace Jackson, who, for his own reasons, has assumed another identity, that of Gabriel West, who has won the newspaper from the former owner.

Elise and Trace find themselves attracted to each other but Trace does not believe he can pursue Elise and marriage until he has settled his debt with notorious outlaw Matt Harris.

Elise has discovered that the "dead" Trace Jackson is still alive and puts out a special edition of the newspaper announcing this little tidbit, then follows "Gabriel West" to Canyon City to inform him of this.

What occurs between Trace and Elise and the notorious Matt Harris will not be discussed here as it would give away the plot of the story. Read this book and find out the ending.

Brides of Durango: Elise
I was a fan of Bobbi Smith's when I read this book, and I'm even a bigger fan now. Wow!! Ms. Smith, you know how to tell a story and keep my interest. Can't wait until your new book comes out.

Train to Durango
Published in Audio Cassette by Otis Audio Inc (February, 2001)
Authors: Ralph Compton and Jim Gough
Average review score:

This train doesn't know where it is!
After having read all the previous Nathan Stone/Wes Stone books, this one fell flat in the end. Perhaps Compton died while writing this one, as it whimpered to an end. For one thing, even though the Durango-Silverton Railroad figures into the story, the writer didn't know his geography or railroad well enough to get the route correct. In reality, the railroad dead ends at Silverton, so it was not possible to get from Silverton directly to Denver or vice-versa. Also, the book's back cover would have you believe that there was some mysterious armored train under the control of the bad guys. Never appeared, never happened. It does not match the story line at all. Perhaps it got mixed up with a different story? Another point is that the geography and travel times mentioned do not make any sense. Yuma, Arizona is only a few minutes horseback ride from the Gulf of California? Some of the story elements got a little unbelievable. A mine chamber with a secret swinging stone door created by only two men? How is it that the three heroes are able to return to Dodge all the way from Yuma, Arizona practically overnight? It was an interesting story until near the end but sadly fell apart on the inconsistencies and story errors related to the railroad and geography. All too often, I recognized sentences and statements lifted from earlier books in the series as if the writer couldn't think of a new way to say it.

Narrow Gauge
I gave this book a fairly low rating, but you will learn some history as you plod thru the story. there are a few of these small rails still being used today. however, instead of hauling precious metal they carry tourists. the story will be entertaining and misterious.

Border Empire Saga
For those who are die hard westerns fan's this book is sure to keep you turning the page's yet for the newcomer it has all the action you would expect from a Ralph Compton novel, sure to make a western fan for life. The books use of real event's and legend's of the old west is great tool in educating new reader's to " The old west". I am sure that after reading this novel you will add many more of Ralph Compton's masterpieces to your personal library.
